Advanced Internal Medicine at Wylie Veterinary Centre
Our internal medicine department is equipped to assess a wide range of health issues that affect your pet’s internal organs and systems. Using advanced diagnostics and collaborative case review, we deliver personalised, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s needs. We regularly diagnose and manage:
- Endocrine disorders (e.g. diabetes, hypothyroidism, Addison’s disease)
- Gastrointestinal conditions (e.g. IBD, pancreatitis, vomiting, diarrhoea)
- Liver and kidney disease
- Respiratory issues
- Immune-mediated conditions
- Urinary problems
- Chronic infections
- Neurological concerns
- Weight loss or unexplained clinical signs
We also support cancer cases and can administer on-site chemotherapy when appropriate.
Our team uses in-house diagnostics (bloodwork, ultrasound, X-rays, endoscopy), combined with external lab resources when needed, to build a full picture of your pet’s health. We coordinate with Wylie’s in-house specialists across cardiology, dermatology, and ophthalmology for multi-disciplinary cases.
If necessary for particularly complex cases, we can connect remotely with Diplomate-holder specialists to help us manage our patients in-house, avoiding costly and stressful journey to a referral centre.
When to See an Internal Medicine Vet
Our receptionists will always direct you to the best available vet in the team to manage the symptoms you describe.
You may be referred to our internal medicine team by your primary care vet, or you can contact us directly if your pet:
- Has a chronic illness that isn’t responding to treatment
- Requires advanced testing or imaging
- Has vague or complex symptoms (e.g. lethargy, vomiting, weight loss)
- Needs a second opinion
- Requires long-term disease management
Our internal medicine vets are committed to collaborative, compassionate care. We work closely with you to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and ongoing management.
